Mrs. Burgess

Welcome to my page!! My name is Dawn Burgess and this is my fourth year teaching at Western Valley Elementary. I have worked in a variety of capacities within the teaching field including substitute teaching, teaching preschool, and teaching at the college level. I enjoy working with our fourth graders here at WVES because they are a bright and capable bunch with fantastic insight and imagination. Three years ago I graduated from Grand Canyon University with my second Master’s Degree in curriculum development and educational technology. My first M.ED, which is also from Grand Canyon University, is in Elementary Education and I earned a BFA in Interior Design with a minor in Art History from Rochester Institute of Technology.

On a more personal note I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two amazing daughters, both of whom attend school here at WVES and I also have a little man at home who will turn one in the new year. In my spare time I love to spend time with my family, lift weights, spin, crochet, and watch sappy movies while drinking copious amounts of coffee!

Communication between home and school is very important. Please feel free to contact me at any time via phone or email whenever you have a concern or a question. My main goal is to help your student experience tremendous personal growth and success while in my care. I welcome parent involvement and you can expect me to be in contact to tell you all of the positive things that are happening in our class! Thank you for taking the time to get to know me! I look forward to hearing from you!
