Principal's Message

Mr. Ruiz

Greetings Western Valley Families!  My name is Marco Antonio Ruiz and I am your school principal.  On behalf of all of our staff and myself, I would like to welcome you to our learning community.

I am currently entering my twentieth year in education, spending nine years as a classroom teacher and eleven years as a principal.  I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts in Bilingual Elementary Education from the University of Arizona, my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University and am currently working on a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.  As a native of Phoenix, I have also grown up in the valley.  I am also a proud father of one son, Marco Jr., and he currently is residing in Houston, Texas.

Our community of professionals will always strive to provide a stellar education for your scholar. WV faculty will incorporate instructional best practices in order to meet the needs of all learners on our campus.  At the elementary campus, we are particularly focused on ensuring that all students read on grade level by the third grade.  We will also make certain that students are equipped with strong mathematics, science, and critical thinking skills, needed for the 21st century.  At the middle school campus, we are focused on ensuring that students are equipped with the necessary skills required for career and college readiness, in high school and beyond.   We are also the proud recipient of the 21st CCLC After School Program grant, which has provided over $600,000 in after school funding over the last four years.  These additional funds have allowed us to bring the fine arts, music, fitness, nutrition, parent classes and a host of other student and family programs to enrich your child’s education.  Our belief is that we will educate the whole child and enhance all talents.

As a Kids At Hope school, we believe that all children are capable of success, no exceptions! Our school will prepare our future leaders to compete in a global economy.  We will guarantee that our scholars will have the foundational skills needed for entering college and future careers.  This endeavor will certainly require partnering with our families.  I welcome your suggestions and your involvement in making this a reality for our students.

Marco Antonio Ruiz, M.Ed.
